Negotiations Skills Course - Fall 2019 Professor Katrina Lee OSU African American and African Studies Community Extension Center September 17 - November 5 Tuesdays 5:45 p.m. - 7:45 p.m. Location: 905 Mount Vernon Avenue Everyone negotiates. Every day. Family members negotiate with each other. Employees and supervisors negotiate about salary, promotions, and responsibilities. Car buyers negotiate with car sellers Effective negotiation can lead to better, happier outcomes in life and work. Practicing negotiations skills can be empowering. Beginning Sept. 17, The Ohio State University African American and African Studies Community Extension Center will offer a free intensive 8-session negotiations skills program. In a highly interactive 2-hour class each Tuesday, participants will learn foundational negotiations skills that they can use in their personal and professional lives. Topics covered will include preparing for a negotiation, creating value, building trust, using empathy setting goals, and developing selfawareness as a negotiator. Participants will practice key negotiations skills in exercises and simulated role plays. They will practice negotiations skills that they can use in everyday life at home and at work. Participants will be expected and required to attend all 8 sessions. Participants will have approximately 30-45 minutes of class preparation each week. Professor Katrina Lee will lead the program. She has taught negotiations in The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law's topranked dispute resolution program since 2012. Before becoming a professor at OSU, she practiced law for 12 years.
